veramente si parlava di 2.0.16 che ho appena scaricato...anzi a dire il,vero e' uscita anche la 2.0.17

a si? e dove lo vedi scritto che sulla 2.0.16/17 sia stato implementato il maintenance mode?

ad ogni modo se vuoi il maintenance mode,puoi sempre compilarti una release dal branch next....
