the technical name is axial flux brushless motor
Some time ago I was surfing the net looking for information about the brushless motors and I found this link :

It is a Laurea thesis where it is explained very well the characteristics of this kind of motor.
Hoping this could help someone to develope a motor for models.
Unfortunately I haven't enough time for this activities.
