One hot OPS twin from Monza in Italy!

A state of the art vintage 2-stroke, twin cylinder boxer engine, the pinnacle of Italian model engineering, popular for use in RC aerobatics championships including successes the Tournament of Champions in Las Vegas

This is a long stroke high torque engine, renowned for turning big props, with excellent fuel economy (operates at lower RPM). Some key features of this engine:

Crankshaft with needle roller bearings, at both big end & small end, which allows running with lower oil content & is ideal for gasoline fuel
Dellorto carby with regulator. Designed & built with model airplane aerobatics in mind, smooth idle, fast pick-up transition to full speed & provides snappy throttle response through the entire RPM range. This carb should not to be confused with the garden machinery carbs fitted to so many RC gas engines these days, which are designed for running at 2 speeds only
True boxer configuration, with simultaneously firing pistons, which means the forces are always equal & opposite, resulting in a much smoother running engine
Reed valve induction. Allows this engine to be run in either direction, counter-clockwise or clockwise (reverse direction) & provides higher levels of torque with a flatter torque curve
Renowned for easy starting, usually with one flick (backwards flick technique)
Gilardoni Nikasil coated schnuerle ported cylinders, with ringed pistons, timed for torque for use in aerobatic & scale models. Gilardoni also supply the Nikasil cylinders for the BMW boxer twin motorcycles

Fuel mix: 20:1 fuel mix (5% castor oil & 95% methanol). Do not exceed 5% oil content
Recommended props: 22x12", 24x10", 24x12" & 22x8" for running-in. Can pull larger props if fitted with expansion chamber tuned pipes
This engine can be run with the recommended methanol based fuel or could be run on gasoline petrol using the OS G5 "GAS" glow plugs (available for $9.95 each on ebay), without the need for electronic ignition. The Dellorto carb on this engine has a regulator which would be conducive for use with gasoline petrol, so the setting will be less sensitive for gasoline, than without a fuel regulator. The carb has separate settings for high speed ("H" needle screw) & low speed ("L" needle screw)

This engine is as new, unused & comes with headers / manifolds, tools, papers, box (shelf worn) & packaging. This engine turns overs smoothly with new engine compression making the correct sounds

The engine is perfect for display as an Objet d'art or for use in a large scale or aerobatics model
