Following the 25th meeting of the ICAO Dangerous Goods Panel (DGP) in October 2015 and the ICAO decision taken on the 22nd February 2016, various changes have been made to the requirements for transporting Lithium Batteries by air. These changes are focused on Loose/Bulk Lithium Ion Batteries PI965 Sections IA, IB and II.
The changes will come into effect on the 01st April 2016 and are as follows:
PI965 Section IA, IB & II
Forbidden on Passenger aircraft, Cargo Aircraft Only (CAO)
State of Charge (SoC) of the battery must not exceed 30%
PI965 Section II, PI968 Section II
A customer is not permitted to present for transport more than one package for transport
Not more than one PI965, PI968 piece may be placed into an overpack
Packages must be offered to the operator separately from other cargo
