Israel established the 190 helicopter squadron in 1985 with around 20 Hughes 500MD helicopters from two other squadrons. The squadron serves in several roles, including anti-tank combat and armed reconnaisance. As of 2006, the squadron had upgraded to the new AH-64A Apache helicopter".
