Status: offline HI AVIV123, 34T is the stock number of teeth. With electric motors you need to gear them so that they peak rev most of the time, this means that you need a motor that will peak rev at about 15,000 rpm or around about that figure for a Bonzer. If you run the motor below peak revs it will always run hot. I have run 1100, 1700 and 2600kv and 2600 is about as high as I would use. If you want more speed you use speed tuned gears or 21/23 pinion gears. The motor you have would need to rev to about 50,000 rpm to work well which means you would need NASA approval to launch it. The way that electric motors are rated is a bit strange for most people, they think that the higher the KVs the better it will be, that is not the case, you need to be able to get the motor to run as fast as possible with the volts that are provided to it from your battery and ESC, if you don't do this you end up with a motor that is always under load and runs hot and heat not only kills electric motors but it also gives you shorter run times as well. With the motor that you have the only thing that I can think of is to alter the motor mount so that you can run smaller pinion gears or put smaller diameter wheels on. Stay on the forum and let us know how you get on and also your own thoughts as well. One other thing, some people think that the motors in their cars, buggies, trucks etc spin at a certain amount of RPMs, this might be so under no load, when you run them in a chassis they might only be doing two thirds of those RPMs, which means that someone with a slower reving motor can actually be faster because it is not under as much load and is working in it's ideal rev range, that is why my 1100kv brushless eats standard Bonzer powered trucks for lunch . All the best Paul

anzi, qui dice di non aver rotto quasi nulla:

Status: offline Hi magnat, doskie and all. Yes magnat I have a HBX, and I love it, I don't care if they are a Tamiya copy, loose in the joints or whatever I just don't care they are good fun and you don't have to worry about being able to get spare parts, just buy an extra HBX like I did or get Tamiya parts or a cheap TL01 tamiya kit. I have converted mine to brushless because I also fly helis and have boats and that is what I run in them. I love brushless it is the way to go. I have set mine up with 2200mah lipos, 40 amp programmable controller, external BEC and an 1100 rpm per volt 272w outrunner brushless motor, I have lowered it with 60mm touring car oil over medium spring dampers, lowered the body down as low as possible and trimmed the posts down as much as I can, trimmed the wheel arches, changed it over to FM tx and 6ch rx, speed tuned gears, full bearings, 19t pinion gear, blue printed the gear train and a few other little mods, how does it go you ask? LIKE NOTHING YOU WOULD EVER BELIEVE!!!!!!! Wheel stands on grass, flips on bitumen and goes like mad, it is the best fun. The amazing thing is that it is still holding together, I cannot understand how some can complain about breakages; they must drive like crap and hit everything in site. I have been running this set up for a couple of months and the only breakage that I have had is the top of one of the plastic shocks, super glued it back and it held on pretty well. Everything is loose and wobbles but you would have to expect that no matter what brand I put that set up in. Have fun guys and enjoy our Tamiya TL01 copies, I sure do. PS I have just bought the touring car version, one brushless conversion coming up, perhaps with a 23t pinion?
