My first reaction after helicopter flight #1 was those shops with the RTF micros are running some kind of racket. They sell those things for unbelievably low prices with unbelievably cool features like "autopilot" and and "tail rotor mixing".
The unsuspecting victim orders it and waits and waits because it's not in stock. Weeks later it arrives but they can't get it to work. Technically it works but only barely enough to get 1" off the ground for a few seconds, so they wait another few weeks to get a useful battery. The giveaway NiMH's aren't powerful enough so they order a LiPo.
And 1 of the "4in1" receiver features, the non heading-hold gyro, is a ripoff, so they order a proper heading-hold gyro which is much more stable and also does the stupendous "tail rotor mixing" trick, like every other gyro doesn't do "tail rotor mixing".
After several more weeks, the victim is finally ready to fly. It flies directly sideways into a wall, instantly desintegrating into a million little bits, and this helicopter piloting career is another contribution to lower real-estate costs in Milpitas.
Per chi non ha voglia di sorbirsi la spiegazione in inglese, in sostanza si dice che ti vendono a basso costo dei modelli mezzi tarocchi, con la batteria spompata e altri elementi da sostituire, e solo dopo queste sostituzioni (che paghi) l'elicottero diventa governabile.
In realtà dice che quando hai sostituito la batteria e il giroscopio e riesci finalmente a farlo alzare da terra scopri un terzo difetto che te lo schianta direttamente sul muro più vicino e butti tutto.
La domanda agli esperti è: ma ci sarà del vero o è uno sfortunato allarmista?
