Allora com'è andata la giornata, fatta la regata nonostante il tempo?

La regata si e' svolta regolarmente e nonostante le previsioni avverse non ha praticamente mai piovuto . Qualche goccina ogni tanto ma non abbiamo mai messo gli spolverini perche' proprio non ce nera .
Il vento invece e' stato molto scarso . Partenza sui 3-4 nodi con vento da nord. L'andata fino a Pai e' stata veramente dura per tutti , vento con direzioni strane che cambiava ad ogni metro . Poi ha girato da sud con pari intensita' , cioe' scarsa . Con il mio 10R sono riuscito a prendere il comando da subito cercando di non sbagliare niente nel bordeggio . Il due metri di Umberto e' stato sempre li per un paio di chilometri. In un mio errore nel bordeggio si e' avvicinato ma poi abbiamo scelto due strade , uno piu' al largo dell'altro e complice un calo di vento ho dato un tirone forte dando un bel distacco al 2 metri . Nelle retrovie con le barche piccole era tutto piu' difficile , i distacchi si sono fatti sempre piu' importanti. non si vedevano piu' . Il ritorno si e' fatto praticamente tutto in poppa con facilita' . E gli inseguitori hanno giovato di un'incremento del vento che ha riavvicinato tutti. Nel finale il vento e' arrivato in alcuni punti anche sui 15 nodi . Belle corse . Nella 10 miglia ho vinto io col 10R . Nella 5 miglia ha vinto Luca Cristini con la IOM . Interessante la premiazione della classifica in tempo compensato che ha meritatamente sottolineato la gran gara svolta da Tuppews che addirittura a Pai ha girato terzo assoluto con il suo Dragon Force 95. Bravo complimenti vivissimi. A seguire nella classifica in tempo compensato io col 10R secondo e terzo Zuanazzi Paolo con la M armata ad armo B.

Mi spiace tanto non essere stato con voi... purtroppo eventi contingenti mi hanno impedito all'ultimo di venire a Torri.
In ogni caso... Complimenti al vincitore e a tutti i presenti... in particolare all'amico Umberto che con la sua 2 m si è ben battuto.
Spero di vedere presto foto e classifiche complete in reale e compensato.

Anche quest'anno comunque solo complimenti a Wolfgang che con una rg 65 ha lasciato indietro barche ben più prestati e blasonate.....è un grande

Grande regata di Wolfgang, sono veramente contento che abbia vinto il premio della classifica compensata . Non ci sono piu' scuse adesso , anche con una barca piccola si puo' vincere.

Dopo 5 edizioni si iniziano a fare i primi bilanci della regata con l'importante albo d'Oro che tiene traccia di coloro che hanno tentato l'impresa riuscendoci.

First of all I would like to thank the organization and the many helping hands, who have sacrificed a lot of their time and efforts for this unique regatta. Again you did a splendid job! Thank you very much!

Unfortunatly the bad weather forecast prevented many sailors to participate in the regatta.

In the past I have done a lot of yardstick regattas with my vintage long keeler and I am very pleased with this years result at the 10Miglia with my new dragonflite95. But I have to admit that I was very lucky with this years weather conditions. In those drifting conditions during the 'upwind leg' the different boat speeds aren't as obvious as in heavy wind conditions. Until the turning point in Pai I was still in contact with bigger boats, with exception of the two biggest boats. It was impressive how fast Massimo was out of sight with his 10R right from the start line, followed by Umberto with his 2M.
With the upcoming wind at the downwind leg I have lost only five minutes to the next boat, I had only one weed stop and on the last two Km I had to start jogging to follow my boat to the finish line.

I understand the time compensated ranking as a virtual regatta, depending on the yardstick rule and the weather conditions during the regatta. It should represent a ranking where everyone would start with a similar boat potential and the ranking is best when everyone has the same weather conditions.
How much I appreciate my time compensatetd result, but if I have had the same weather conditions like Massimo I probably would have failed the time limit. And if Massimo had got my wind conditions he would have been at home much earlier.

You always see these influences of the weather conditions on big boat races like the Centomiglia, the Fastnet or Syd-Hob and no one is to be blamed because of the weather.
To be honest, 'line honours' is a fact and bringing a fast boat to the start line and make it 'first ship home' is part of the game. So my deepest respect to the results of the bigger boats this year!
