dLRK <> LRK

An interesting discussion, with very interesting contributions by a.o. Christian Lucas and Herbert Kabi:

sorry Ron, this time I have not been able to understand a couple of things:

what is the difference between dlrk and lrk.
by the discussion you posted here, my understanding is that D means delta connection of the windings, and without D is for star connection.

if this is true, it is normal on industrial three phase motors to have two different supply voltages using one connection or the other.

in fact the difference is 1,73 (square root of 3) times higher the voltage to supply the motor when it is star connected, to obtain the same mechanical power.

and if we use a motor with a wrong combination (ie star connected with low voltage or the opposite), we obtain a oveloaded motor with low power output and overheating and in case of delta connection with too much voltage applied, we have iron saturation and overheating again (and a rotating, egg and bacon cooking device ).

did I'm wrong?

dLRK stands for 'distributed lrk' where all teeth are wound. Instead of say winding 20 winds on 6 of the 12 teeth (lrk), you wind 10 winds on each of 12 the 12 teeth. Both methods will give 20 wires/winds in each slot between the statorpoles.

So, that 'd' is not about delta. Which indeed is not very clear in the rcgroups discussion.

Excellent dLRK winding tutorial:

yes! it is excellent, this is the way I already did my motors (just a few).
all stators were coming from cd or hdd, so learning about lrk method has not been necessary, because I did'nt found more than 9 to 12 stator poles.

ok, now I must go back there to better understand the matter

many thanks
